Why Go On Summer Mission?

It’s just starting to get cold. You know what that means right?! It’s time to start thinking about your summer! What are you going to do this summer? Cru students and staff from all over the country will be following God’s call to go on summer missions in strategic locations all over the world. Will you join us? The Jersey Metro staff team is praying for 13 students from our movement to go on summer missions this summer. In fact, we’re calling November “GO-vember” because it is the best time to apply to go on summer missions! Summer plans start to pile up and Cru summer missions spots fill up fast. Don’t miss out on the unique opportunity you have during this stage of life to take the gospel to the world, and experience life-changing community on a Cru summer mission. We’d like to challenge you to pray during the month of GO-vember about the idea of applying this early to go, and see if God may be leading you to be one of the 13+ students sent from Jersey Metro to the world! We’re even offering $50 toward your financial support goal if your application is complete by the end of GO-vember. We don’t want anything, including (especially) finances, to hinder you from heeding God’s call to go into all the world and preach the gospel!18 Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[b] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold,I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20https://vimeo.com/106963473I know the thought of being a missionary can be intimidating, even if it’s just for a summer. I take great comfort in what comes right before “The Great Commission” in verse 17. Jesus’ disciples were standing there with the risen Christ commissioning them right to their faces and what does Scripture say about them? “When they saw him, they worshipped him, but some doubted.” And these are the people Jesus built his church on! If God can use disciples, who literally witnessed his resurrection yet were still doubting, to change the world, I know he can use us through the power of the Holy Spirit to do the same...in spite of our doubts. Come help change the world with us! Why wait?! Apply to go on a Cru Summer Mission during GO-vember! - by staff member, Matt Beahr.
